Focusrite published an article on their website that highlights Jim Pavett's use of the Focusrite ISA430 channel strips during a live recording of The Great Wall of China international pop concert. The Great Wall Concert features Alicia Keys, Boyz II Men, Cyndi Lauper, Nelly McKay, and Doyle Bramhall II.
Jim Pavett, owner of Allusion Studios, built, installed and ran the recording system used to record the Great Wall of China Concert. The monumental Great Wall concert is the first international pop concert to be produced at The Great Wall of China. The Great Wall concert features world-class artists Alicia Keys, Boyz II Men, Cyndi Lauper, and Doyle Bramhall II performing their greatest hit songs under the magnificent grandeur of The Great Wall. The Great Wall concert has been filmed in its entirety in High Definition (HD) for network HD broadcast. To capture all of the audio at this historic event, Jim created two 48-track digital recording systems, which he flew out to China to build and install on site. Once up and running, Jim had routed 192 channels of audio, which was then separated out to the redundant 48-track systems. The resulting recorded audio is nothing short of spectacular.
The concert is now airing for the first time in rotation on Music-HD digital station (AZ Listings: MHDTV 227 Comcast, 729 Cox, 332 Direct TV). Search your providers TV schedule for air times. www6.comcast.net/tv, www.cox.net Click on TV Listings, www.directtv.com.

The accolades keep on coming for Beyond Words (Gentle Thunder with Will Clipman & AmoChip Dabney). Our latest nomination is from New Age Reporter for Best Native American Album. We also made NAR reviewer Bill Binkelman's Top Twelve List in the New Age/Adult Contemporary/World Fusion category.
Jim Pavett engineered and recorded songs for the album Beyond Words, which has received a nomination for Best New Age Album by the Recording Academy.
A collaboration of artists Gentle Thunder, Will Clipman and AmoChip Dabney, the majority of the tracks were recorded at Pavett's Allusion Studios in Tucson, AZ. Beyond Words is an eclectic blend of grand hammer dulcimer, Native American flutes, drums, bass, soprano sax, piano and percussion. The album was written and performed spontaneously live in the studio in 2005. After the main structure was captured, other instruments were layered on top of their performances.
The 49th Annual GRAMMY Awards will be held on Sunday, Feb. 11, at Staples Center in Los Angeles and will be broadcast live in high-definition TV and 5.1 surround sound on CBS from 8 - 11:30 p.m.
