Lystra and My-Key have spent almost two years working on an intriguing project – an album lyrically centered around renowned spiritual leaders through human history. Pulling from spirituality around the world, the musical style of each song reflects that leader’s home, blending it with the group’s gospel/R&B roots. The album makes extensive use of virtual instruments, with some pieces utilizing up to five drum kits. The track count was over 60 tracks per song. This vast sonic pallet allows for quick turns in the middle of a song to establish a different groove or vibe, mirroring the story line. These soundscapes, coupled with layers of background vocals in the gospel style, yield enticing results that are seldom found in today’s recordings.
