Our Team

Jim Pavett - Owner and Chief Engineer

Jim Pavett earned a Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering from The University of Arizona, and has worked in the audio recording business since 1983.

Jim has well-rounded his experience by working in recording studios, audio duplication companies, mastering facilities, and by being a schooled musician since childhood. This knowledge of audio properties, audio production and correct formatting is often ignored or overlooked by many recording studios, which causes problems for the client later on.

Over the past 20+ years, Jim has built a strong business through referrals, customer loyalty, and trust. His passion for electronics keeps him constantly searching for the latest technology to be instated at Allusion Studios. His clients benefit from his enthusiasm and perfectionism by having the best tools available when they come to record. This passion has grown into a Pro Audio consulting/sales business by the name of Pure Wave Audio.

Jim currently writes for Pro Audio Review Magazine, creates audio samples for microphone manufactures, and is a panelist for the Tape Op Recording Convention. One of his projects was nominated for a Grammy Award in 2007.

Joe Gallegos - Second Engineer / Web Specialist

Joe Gallegos earned a Bachelor of Music degree from The University of Arizona, and has studied under renowned UA music faculty Daniel Asia, Tom Patterson, and Jay Rees. As an undergraduate, he spent considerable time in several University ensembles including the "Pride of Arizona" drumline and the UA Steel Band. From 1999 to 2003, Joe served as Associate Director of Marching Percussion for the "The Pride of Arizona", and was appointed Director of Marching Percussion from 2004 to 2005.

Joe began engineering through The Recording Connection internship program in 2003. As the sole apprentice to a professional engineer in an established recording studio, he spent considerable time learning recording principles in a one-to-one, hands-on environment. Upon completing the program, he joined Allusion Studios in 2005. He has experience working with numerous clients on projects ranging from heavy metal to solo hand percussion. Joe has an excellent ear, a superb client-sense, and a natural ability to recognize and produce quality recordings.
